This is one of our new favorite quick and easy dinners. It takes only a few minutes to whip up and the first time I made it my husband was surprised at how tasty it was. Truth be told, he was a little skeptical at first and took only a small portion, but after realizing how good it was he went back for seconds and even requested extra sauce for his rice the next time I made it.
What I love about this recipe is how simple it is. It uses basic ingredients that most have readily on hand, yet it tastes like you’re at a restaurant-the perfect combination!
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon oil (I use olive oil, but any kind will work)
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced, or 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2-3 green onions
- cooked rice for serving
- In a small bowl whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper and ginger.
- Heat oil in large frying pan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook about 1-minute. Add ground beef and cook until browned (crumble it well and drain fat if needed).
- Stir in soy sauce mixture and green onions until well combined, cooking for about 2 minutes until heated through.
- Serve immediately with rice.
- If you'd like extra sauce for the rice, double the sauce recipe. As it stands, there will be no extra sauce for the rice. My favorite way to make it is to double the sauce-or at the very least make an extra half batch of sauce, and then add it all to the beef as normal-then it will be slightly more saucy for flavoring the rice a little more. Enjoy!

I’ll have to try this. I’ve never thought of using ground beef, I always use steak.
